"Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth."
Deuteronomy 8:18
A Sound Investment in a Family’s Future
Did you know that your gift does much more than help families escape from unsafe, unhealthy living conditions?
You’re helping families to break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. Habitat’s affordable, no-profit house payments free up money for food, child care, medicine and other necessities. And research has shown that decent housing improves health, increases children’s educational achievement and strengthens community ties.
Cash - gifts of cash can be deducted against a larger portion of your taxable income than can gifts of appreciated property. Cash provides Habitat immediate benefits. Your gift can be made to us outright, or you can make a planned gift arrangement. The IRS allows you to claim charitable deductions for gifts of cash up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income (AGI - your total taxable income for the year).
Wills - Habitat for Humanity of Highlands County can be named as a beneficiary in your will using a designated dollar amount or percentage of your estate. You may also designate where your gift is used within the organization.
Gift Annuities - This is a simple contract between you and Highlands County Habitat for Humanity, which pays you a monthly income stream for life. You may fund the annuity with cas or secruities and you may take an immediate tax deduction. You can also bypass capital gains taxes if you fund the gift annuity with appreciated stocks. In addition, you will receive a significant charitable income tax deduction.
Life Insurance - Donors can make a gift of life insurance by making Highlands County Habitat for Humanity the beneficiary of the policy.
IRA and 401K - Your retirement fund can be taxed up to 80% if passed on to heirs, yet it is tax-free when passed on to a non-profit organization.
Land Donations - Highlands County Habitat for Humanity is always looking for lots to build our homes on. Once the property is inspected and considered "buildable" property, Habitat will gladly accept land donations.
