
Pre-Qualification Process:
The following information will be required as part of the Pre-Application Process:
Must return pre-qualification form for homeownership to our office
Attached Link for Pre-Qualification Application
Residency in Highlands County, Florida for at least 12 months must be verified for consideration
All applicants must be United States citizens or have a Permanent Residency Card
If you are married, you must apply with your spouse. If divorced a copy of legal documentation is required.
Proof of employment (pay stubs or W-2)
Proof of unearned income (SSI, SSA, AFDC, VA benefits, etc.).
Proof of court ordered income (Child Support, Alimony, etc.).
Application Procedure:
Must Attend Orientation if passed Pre-Qualification Process
Must pay $30.00 fee at the time of turning in your Application for Credit Report & Criminal Background check
Application must be complete with all required documents to complete the file
Copy of birth certificates and social security cards for everyone living in household
Copy of report cards for all school aged children living in household
Copy of Photo ID of all adults living in household
Current landlord’s information (name, phone number, and address)
Credit report(Credit is checked during the application process and again just before you move into your home)
Criminal Background check
Property investigation
Home interview by Highlands County Habitat for Humanity Family Selection Committee Member
Recommendation by the Family Selection Committee and approval by Highlands County Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors
Meeting with Director of Family Services to sign letter of partnership with Highlands County Habitat for Humanity
